Case History: JVC Introduces New HDTV Technology
R&J creates a wall-to-wall,
floor-to-ceiling, eye-popping, mind-bending HDTV experience.
When you’re making consumer electronics history, you want
the whole world to watch. That’s how JVC felt when
they introduced their revolutionary D’Ahlia large screen
HDTV with D-ILA technology that, in one stroke, would
literally change the industry.
For R&J, an everyday press conference in a nice hotel
room with drapes and folding chairs wasn’t quite the ticket.
We were thinking big, bigger, biggest. We were thinking
splashy -- explosive!
To grab the attention of the world, we gathered the press
from all the leading consumer and trade media, from major TV
networks to electronics books, e-zines and websites…and set
their vision on fire.
We took over the ESPN Zone, a hypermodern video-driven
venue located in the middle of Times Square designed for the
single purpose of creating sensory-overload. And we
turned the place, top to bottom, into the JVC Zone.
On a 16-foot HDTV monitor we showed off—shamelessly—the
glories of JVC’s new technology. That, and a few dozen
plasma and large screen monitors, made the entire venue one
huge multi-media product demo.
The effect on the over one hundred members of the press
in attendance was the stuff clients’ dreams are made of.
Everyone who experienced JVC’s new technology was convinced
it was the wave of the future – and they told JVC’s story to
the world.
Thanks to R&J, the world was watching, and it liked what
it saw. |
